1000 Links In A Spam Comment
January 28th, 2009 by hbond{{chris}} Wow, that’s bold. 1000 links in a spam comment today.
In my daily review of our blogs Akismet spam folder I noticed one interesting comment. It had 1000 links in it. Clearly a bot left that one. but I am amazed that this approach would even be used. Even if we did not have a spam catcher running we’d eventually notice a post that was roughly 200 screens long and eliminated that comment.
If you’re going to spam a blog (including this one) take care to try and do it well so I don’t even notice!

1000 links? Wow, that must be a new milestone in spamming! It must be from one of those ‘SEO Optimizing’ businesses trying to take care of all their clients at once.
Those bots are never very sneaky about it, at least from what I’ve seen. I’m constantly getting comments left by bots that contain a series of random numbers and letters in the “name” field and nothing but links in the body. You would think that people would not be so obvious and at least fill in a name and some sort of content? They can’t honestly think I’m gonna let it stay on there.
A really great post here. I assume there’s a chance to post more about related theme here. Really great. Thank you.
Great article, keep up the good work by posting excellent content.
Alright! I am sick to death with all of these spam porn links getting left on my blog! It’s got to the point that I had to disable HTML completely. And those spam filters don’t seem to do any good either.
