Digg has become an amazing social media site in the last several months and is in fact rumoured to be purchased for $300 Million soon. It’s popularity has driven developers to produce Pligg – a Digg like platform that you can download and install on your server for free. Pligg has become very popular and there are now thousands of sites using it to produce user generated content in many different categories.

I have my doubts about how sustainable 9/10 of those sites are, but it’s always interesting to see what kind of niches people come up with.

Wow I had no idea there were that many new sites using the Pligg platform. I had considered messing around with it myself, but if that many people are already in on it maybe i won’t.

Neither did I until I came across this post from Manish! I’ve setup Pligg before and it’s simple to use. We’re even recommending it to clients when it makes sense. Participating in all of these sites is another story all together!
