Bing! Microsoft’s New Search Engine Is Coming

May 29th, 2009 by

{{chris}} Microsoft has been working on a new search engine interface and they’re officially calling it Bing!

It’s not released yet but there is much speculation about it. If you go to www.bing.com you’ll see the placeholder for it. Follow the link and you’ll get to here http://www.decisionengine.com where you can watch a video demo of the search interface.

What’s intersting about it is that it has some of the nify features we now see in Googles Search Options such as filtering and sorting search results.

I’m looking forward to this new offering from Microsoft. One thing is certain – you can’t not know where to try it. It’s www.bing.com. That alone gives them a good chance at snagging some search market share from Google. I’m also interested in figuring out how to maximize it’s use for our clients – now that’s exciting!

Here is a picture of the interface taken from the video:

There has been a fair amount of buzz about bing.

Even if the functionality is great, how is Microsoft going to attract searchers away from the market leader? They failed with Zune v. the iPod, and Hotmail at this point seems far less relevant than gmail.

Will searchers migrate to a product just because Microsoft made it?

I bet this won’t do very well. I have looked at it and it seems to be a spitting image of Google. I bet it might take over Yahoo or Ask but not Google. Regards!

Hey, I was thinking they were planning on buying Yahoo and some of it’s partner sites. And now they’ve got Bing? Wow! I guess they’re really moving more into the internet scene than the OS side of computers.

I hadn’t heard of Bing before last week. But since then I’ve even had an opportunity to see it in action when I signed up for a live account. I didn’t realize it was Microsoft’s search engine until later. It has a nice visual display. I didnt conduct any searches because I’m loyal to Google. But I did access the front page in order to access my live.com account.

I have seen the neww search engine. I find it attractive. I especially like the comments that appear when you click onto the search title. It gives relevant information on the post.

I have personally used Bing and find it way too distracting and crowded. For me, the content and the intent seems too commercial. Having said that I have had friends who seem to like it better than Google.
