Bix – A ‘Create Your Own Contest’ Social Media Site From Yahoo!

Yahoo! has launched Bix! What the heck is it? If you look at the About page they reveal Bix is a site that allows anyone to create their own contests. What a wonderful idea – I think?!
I can certainly see this having applicability to many people. In fact if you look at the home page, some of the existing contests look pretty funny. In fact, I can see alot of people getting sucked deep into this site for a long, long time.
More importantly though – it could be a great way to deliver more traffic to customers sites by launching “corporate contests” there. In fact, as I am writing this I just thought of a few for our clients.
What do you think? Is Bix the next big thing?
In the Quad Cities “Bix” means something totally different. What a ripoff Yahoo!! jk

I am not too sure about this. You hit the nail on the head – this site is time consuming. I wonder if that time would be better used writing quality content?

I completely agree in that quality content is paramount. I was thinking of this as a channel for some of that quality content. We’ve got some clients who could benefit from a well advertised “contest” or two which would both generate some awareness of their services and links to their site. It just simplifies the process of creating activities like this.
Another creative site that may or may not have some kind of commerical value. This value could be found by sponsoring certain contests with prizes. This is interesting and I have bookmarked it.
