Yahoo! Is Updating Their Crawling, Indexing & Ranking Algorithms

January 22nd, 2008 Posted in SEO

Internet Marketing Toronto AKA Christopher Kata According to the Yahoo! Search Blog they are in the process of updating their crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms.

This is the first update for Yahoo! in 2008. Hopefully we will not see to much of a detrimental impact. In fact, we’ve often seen improvements across our clients during Yahoo!’s updates.

As usual we urge clients not to panic if they drop in Yahoo! as these updates usually work themselves out over several weeks regardless.

If you have questions about this - please email us, OK!

Can’t wait to see what updates they will make. I would like to see some improvements on Yahoo this year :)

Luckily we have seen our rankings in Yahoo increasing over the past few days! Hopefully they stay that way. Many of our sites have jumped from page 2 to page 1. :)

Yeah - we’ve been fortunate with Yahoo! MSN updates on the other hand - that’s another story. We work harder when they do an update!

  4. Movie Blog Says:

Mmh, Yahoo hasn’t got the best SERPs I think. Hopefully, this update will change them.

Yahoo blackballed me because I was involved in a recip link scheme that my web provider (Advanced Access) said would be good for me. I did not know better. But maybe it was a stupid thing to do anyway.

That was about two years ago. I now am indexed but I don’t show up hardly anywhere in Yahoo! But Google is really good to me. I am number three for “minneapolis real estate” which is really competitive.

What does Yahoo want from me?

    Hey Kermit,
Sounds like you’ve learned alot over this!

Regarding Yahoo, I would get your site into site explorer, authenticate and submit a sitemap.

You can also confirm they are crawling your site. If not, you should a) get some links on pages that are indexed by yahoo - this may draw them into your site again.

I don’t think that is the reason you don’t rank well in Yahoo. Is just that they have a different algorithm compared to Google.
I am still not sure what needs to be done on my sites in order to rank anywhere in Yahoo. Ihhh…
