Yahoo! Updates To Crawling, Indexing & Ranking Algorithms
May 28th, 2008 Posted in Announcements, News, SEO
Yahoo! has announced updates to it’s crawling, indexing and ranking algorithms for May.
During this time we should expect to see “…some ranking changes and page shuffling in the index.” These kinds of changes are always done to improve the overall search results so we’re confident that these usually mean better results for our clients overall!
In fact, with Yahoo! most of the time we see improvements in rankings during these changes rather declines. When we do see some declines they correct them over the following few weeks. So, no need to panic this time!

Interesting post. Sometimes, when I find myself with nothing to do in front of the computer (surprising, I know) I compare Google and Yahoo’s search engine results and, more often than not, their Top 5 results would be almost identical save for their ranking, while the remaining 5 sites in their Top 10 would be different. Which one offers the best result? Now that’s still debatable but considering how Google turned from being just a brand name to a generic term for searching for something online, that pretty much says it all.
