Cuill – A New Search Engine From Ex Google and IBM Staff
September 10th, 2007 by hbond
A new search engine is in the works by some ex Google staff. It’s called Cuill (pronounced “kool). Since Cuill is being developed by ex Google and IBM staff it may have a chance at having a solid enough foundation to take on the search giant. It’s also got a catchy enough name that may make it sticky.
Cuill is under development yet and there is no known release date that we’re aware of. The founders of Cuill are:
- Tom Costello – CEO. Former search engine developer and IBM employee.
- Anna Patterson – Vice President of Engineering. Former Google employee.
- Russell Power – Former Google employee.
We’re always excited about new search competitors so we’ll be keeping our eye on this one!

Pretty cuill! Hopefully they actually come up with something worthwhile. It’s too bad that Google is so far ahead, they’re quickly becoming a monopoly.
I agree with Court. Any competition is good. However, I would hate to try to take on Google.
Many people have been predicting the the Glory Days for Google can’t last forever. At one time they were attracting all of the great IT staff around and perks were great. But slowly the “shine” is wearing off and it’s not so exciting (still very exciting) but not as much as it used to be. If they really are reaching a “peak” or trending toward a peak, then perhaps now is a good time for a new engine to make it’s mark!
Who knows?!
Nice, the makers of the ex-staff of Google. What’s not to see in Cuill? Hope we can visit this soon.
