Delicious + RSS + Feed WordPress + WordPress = Cool Group Bookmarking Solution!
January 30th, 2009 by hbond{{chris}} A re
cent client had us come up with a really simple way of allowing a group of people to bookmark content and share it through a corporate blog. So I thought about all my experience with RSS and WordPress and came up with an elegant and simple solution.
Step 1
- Create a Delicious bookmarking account
- Define your tags and make sure everyone knows what they are
- Filter on the tag and record the RSS feed for step 2
Step 2
- Install the Feed WordPress plugin
- Configure it by subscribing to the RSS feed from the delicious bookmark service
- Assign the subscription to a category on your blog and set all other desired preferences
Step 3
- Start bookmarking but remember to use the appropriate tag in delicious
- Confirm bookmarks are being published on the blog
Advanced Variations
You can make this a little more advanced in the following ways:
- Define multiple Delicious accounts and run each feed separately through Feed WordPress and assign them to each user account on the WordPress blog
- Define multiple tags and run each one through Feed WordPress to corresponding categories
- Use Yahoo Pipes to consolidate multiple feeds into one single Feed and run that through Feed WordPress. A perfect example of this is multiple delicious feeds as well as multiple Google Reader Shared Items Feeds!
By combining all of these tools together you end up with a very simple solution with very few steps for bookmarking content and sharing it through to your blog readers! If you want a little more help with setting up this solution ask your questions here and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Wow. It never ceases to amaze me how people keep finding new things to do with WordPress. The flexibility is absolutely insane.
I don’t personally have a need for this technique right now, but I can see times when it would be cool to have a group bookmarking tool. Filing this one away for sure.
Hi, I think I have some ideas for improving this. I’m doing some tests on my blog right now where I import delicous bookmarks using feedwordpress, but I have also made a custom template for the category “Bookmarked”. Right now I’m testing snapcasa.com for generating screenshots of the sites on the fly, and I am also playing with reading the metadata of the sites I bookmark automatically.

You might also be interesting in a plugin I’ve made, that presents thumbnails based on tags in a page or post in a very easy manner.
Check it out here

Let me know if you find some other cool things to do with delicious!

There are 1000′s of social bookmarking websites out there, If you want to grow the traffic to your website then a easy way to do this is by using a great social bookmarking tool to automate the work.
I simply enjoyed this book. I am really a die hard romantic suspense reader and its not often i even pick up a book that doesn’t have some murder and mayhem in the first chapter. I was simply drawn to this book because i enjoy series books especially when I can purchase at least two or three books at once. This book was just wonderful. The characters were immensely believable and I simply wanted to eat at The Waterfront myself. All around a tasy treat indeed.
