Simple Bookmarking Widget – AddThis.com
February 8th, 2008 by hbond{{chris}} One of our clients put me onto this tool from AddThis.com which places a bookmarking widget on your site giving visitors the ability to add your page to a multitude of different sites.
Promoting your content is the next important step after writing it. There are various ways you can promote your content and this tool from AddThis.com is just one more way to make it convenient for your visitors to promote for you.
The tool is free and easily installs wherever you want via convenient html script. In second you’ll have a component on your page that will allow a user to submit the page to a multitude of different places.

I’ve seen many people using this widget, however, I do not. I do, however, use the Share This plugin, which basically works the same way and the reason I use it rather than Add This is because it’s a bit nicer looking in my opinion. It takes your hyperlinks CSS code from your style sheet and uses that in the plugin so your site matches, which I definitely like.

This is a wonderful widget which has been apart of my blog for sometime now. It really is helpful and can gain you nice amounts of exposure that you wouldn’t of otherwise had.

There is no doubt that the AddThis widget is a useful tool to get your blog noticed a bit. Another one that I like is the sphere widget which lets your visitors find posts related to your post although I can see a lot of people being slightly scared with the prospect of putting something on your site that loses your visitor – don’t be!
