The Olympics – Uniting Nations, Educating Australia’s Youth
August 13th, 2008 by hbond{{adam}} I love the Olympics… its a great demonstration of sport and courage. Some great things have happened at the Olympics like Jesse Owen’s demonstration at the 1936 Berlin games, the Jamacian bobsled team (“feel the rythim, feel the rhyme” … you finish the song in your head) and many many more.
What I love more about the Olympics is the opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures. A spirit captured by one of our staff in Australia. This is Stuart’s 5 year old son Jack, who learned all about Canada in his class study of the Olympics.
Though we have no medals (yet), though we will always live in the shadow of our neighbour to the south, though we will most likely be subjected to hours of commentary of how we underfund amateur sport… we are still a proud nation – with fans around the world!
To Jack… Canada salutes you – Nice flag eh!

Nice one Adam!
Now I just need to stop him yelling “Go Canada!” when he’s watching the Olympics!
I agree, the olympics is about cooperation, friendly competition, and learning other cultures. Medals are just a bonus.
Well, Canada is doing very well now, so you are all good. I like you guys female hurdler, was cool to see her do well.
very well said business network. i agree because the athlete should not compete for the medals. instead, they have to give spirit to every one of us because the world is one and we are all united what ever happens.
I think the Olympics are always a great learning experience for our youth, and even our elderly. It is a time when we can put aside our differences and learn to enjoy each others friendly competition, company, and countries.
